BEGIN YOUR Healing JOURNEY

My AREAs of Specialty

I specialize in supporting survivors of trauma. Sometimes, trauma is a significant and major life-changing event that profoundly impacts you over an acute period of time. Other times, trauma can be things that occur over days, weeks, or years, that impact your sense of self, your ability to cope, and your relationships. Trauma can be current or in the past. Some areas I enjoy supporting clients through are childhood trauma, sexual assault, intimate partner or family violence, supporting a loved one with a terminal illness, or navigating end-of-life concerns after a terminal or life-altering health diagnosis and managing grief and mourning after the death of a loved one.

EMDR Therapy

What is EMDR Therapy?

Sometimes, experiences from our past continue to have a profound impact on us in the present. Sometimes trauma from our past is intruding upon us in the present through nightmares, flashbacks, or intrusive memories. Sometimes we may have trouble sleeping or concentrating, or we may struggle in our interpersonal relationships. Sometimes we may find ourselves viewing our present experiences through the lens of bad things that have happened to us in the past. Sometimes we have trouble coping with and accepting loss. This is where EMDR therapy can be helpful.

EMDR stands for eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing.  It is a highly researched and effective therapy that helps people achieve healing by targeting deeply ingrained beliefs about themselves and the world around them and specifically by reprocessing memories associated with past experiences. EMDR therapy allows us to heal wounds by returning to the root or origin of the wound and targeting it at its source.

People who participate in EMDR therapy are able to transform negative beliefs about themselves and the world around them and adopt more adaptive and self-compassionate views towards themselves and their experiences. After EMDR, people may feel like their past negative experiences have less of an effect on their present.

Clinical Supervision and Consultation

In my practice, I am happy to support clinicians seeking consultation on trauma-specific cases and can offer supervision for those seeking LCSW licensure in the state of Pennsylvania. Please contact me to discuss this if you are interested in consultation or supervision.

Therapy for Therapists

I am also interested in supporting therapists exploring their own personal trauma histories in order to positively impact their personal and professional world. If you are a therapist interested in trauma-focused therapy for yourself to support your personal growth and healing, please contact me for a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your needs.
